Paper Marbling {Virtual Fridge}

This Week
This term we are joining in on a fortnightly craft class with some of the local home educating families.  It's so good to do things we wouldn't normally do due to cost.  However by co-oping we have managed to do a few interesting things.  This week we tried our hand at paper marbling. I found some interesting YouTube clips.  This lady made a flower, and this one shows you a DIY of the process used in paper marbling. This one of The Makers of Marbled Paper at a bussiness - Art of the Marbler is an old documentary explaining the why and how of the process by a company in England.

Our tutor bought a Marbling Kit by Jacquard on eBay.

Included in this kit:

Nathaniel adding ink to the carrageenan.

Nathaniel marbled paper

Chareen marbled paper
A few years ago we did shaving cream art which was very similar but you can do it with craft paints and shaving cream.  Here is a YouTub clip on how to do so.

Stop Motion Clay Creations. {Virtual Fridge}

This Week
A few weeks back we had the wonderful experience of viewing the Aardman exhibition here in Melbourne where I saw one of my favourite characters of all time:  Morph.

I've been thinking about this character from my childhood and realised that one of the greatest things about Morph is that he was always willing to try and this is the most important aspect of art and creativity that it doesn't need to be perfect.  What matters is that we try.

A friend arranged a clay Stop Motion class which the children throughly enjoyed.

I shall upload the Stop Motion the children created and share it here next week.

Catapult Painting {Virtual Fridge}

This Week
Today was certainly interresting!  It was our first craft class for term four and the children each built a catapult.  They then loaded cotton wool balls with paint and flung them at paper for fun and modern art creations!

The catapult is made from pencils and elastic bands and super easy to build. You can find the full tutorial to build a Pencil Catapult over at Little Bins for Little Hands.
