Week 2 - Photography Challenge Showcase

Over at Erin's blog she has created a little Photography Challenge for the month of May. The challenge is to take a photograph each day and explore a new aspect of photography.
While on holiday I have been using some of Erin's challenges during some of my travels. Here is my second weeks attempt.

Sunset
We are currently living up on a hill and do not see any sunsets from here.  Yesterday we visited an animal rehab centre and this is what I saw with the sun setting in the background.  I am off to Johannesburg on Friday and will try to take a sunset photo from there.

Landscape
Paul and I walked down the hill one morning and this is looking back over the farm at Trackers where we are staying.

The Person I love
When I met Paul I discovered he loved all birds of prey and was an avid falconer.  Yesterday for he got to hold a Hooded Vulture on the glove.

A Colour Scheme
Here in the bush the uniform that all the rangers and farmers wear is khaki in colour.  Last week while in town I discovered a wonderful shop and had a serious lapse of self control.  Here My N is in his "Ranger" uniform.

Playing with Shadows.
On Mother's Day Paul took me out for a cuppa and when we were done I saw this basket with it's shadows...

A Photo depicting motion.
This week I have had a few opportunities to capture motion.  I couldn't choose one so I put them all up.
Here is some honey pouring into a bucket.
After bringing the bee's back to the house they were attracted to the light.
Here is a photo of their flight path.
A lovely fountain at the cafe.

Clouds

Clouds coming in over the mountains on the way home from our trip.

Thank you Erin I have once again enjoyed this weeks challenges.  I am eagerly taking photo's for this current week.

Don't forget to pop on over to Seven Little Australians and have a look at the photo's everyone is showcasing.

Blessings

Quotes of interrest ...

Hello My Bloggy Friends

I have been wondering what you have all been up to and what you have been talking about on your blogs as I have had no Internet access.  The lack on Internet has certainly made me appreciate what I do have and so often take for granted. Today the internet has allowed me to access my home page here in blogger world !!

Hope you are all well and feeling encouraged.  I will be traveling to Johannesburg this Friday but will be needing a lift back to Hoedspruit.  Please be in prayer for me.

I have had a great past two days just sitting and reading, this is something I have not been able to do for a long time.  My aim is to catch up on my 52 in 52 challenge for this year.  I have managed to read four books in two days

  1. Empress Orchid - Anchee Min
  2. Scars and Stilettos - Harmony Dust (www.iamatreasure.com)
  3. A Stolen Life - Jaycee Dugard
  4. Monkey Business (The Murder of Anni Dewani) - Mike Nicol (facebook update following book)

Blessings
Chareen

Some Quotes to think about

"When you give someone a book,
you don't give him just paper, ink, and glue.
You give him the possibility of a whole new life."
-- Christopher Morley, 1890-1957,
Novelist, Journalist and Poet

"The great enemy of the truth is very often not the
lie--deliberate, contrived, and dishonest--but the
myth: persistent, persuasive and realistic."

-- John F. Kennedy

It is absurd and anti-life to be a part of a system
that compels you to listen to a stranger reading poetry
when you want to learn to construct buildings, o
r to sit with a stranger discussing the construction of buildings
when you want to read poetry.
~John Taylor Gatto

How can it be a large career to
tell other people's children about arithmetic
and a small career to tell one's own children about the universe?
How can it be broad to be the same thing to everyone
and narrow to be everything to someone?
No, a woman's function is laborious because it is gigantic,
not because it is minute.
~ G. K. Chesterton

To My Children: A Mother’s Prayer

Today is Mother's Day in Australia and without my children I would not be a Mom. I am so grateful that children are a gift from His hand. Today I want to dedicate this song to my four children. (Mr T, Miss J, Sir N & One in the Fathers Arms.)

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward.

A Mother’s Prayer
(HANNAH'S SONG)
Words by Rachel Aldous
Music by John Mandeville

Verse:
My sweet baby on loan from above.
No better treasure could I more love.
I stand here beside your bed as I pray
I lay my hand on your head and I say:

Chorus:
May you grow up to serve Him
all of your days.
May He lead you and guide you
in all of your ways.
May His hand bless your future with
friendships that last.
May you cherish your youth
and not grow up too fast

Verse:
I stare in wonder at your tiny frame.
Just to think that God knows you by name.
He knows every hair on your beautiful head.
He knows your thoughts before they are said.

Chorus:
May you grow up to serve Him
all of your days
May He lead you and guide you
in all of your ways.
May His Hand bless your future with
friendships that last.
May you cherish your youth
and not grow up too fast.

Prayer:
May God grant you peace in the midst of a storm.
May God give you strength even when you’re forlorn.
May you answer the door when Jesus comes knocking.
May wisdom guide when your mouth is talking.
May discretion protect you and keep you pure.
May you never stumble or fall for a lure.
May your heart remain humble to the very end.
May uprightness and truth be what you defend.
May the world not ensnare or change who you are.
May the light that's within you shine like the stars.
May angels surround you body, spirit, mind.
May favor and peace be yours to find.
May rejection and pain never reach you.
May your spirit grow bold for what you’re called to.
May you grow up to serve Him all of your days
May He lead you and guide you in all of your ways
May His Hand bless your future with friendships that last.
May you cherish your youth and not grow up too fast.

As you rest in God’s care I will rest, too.
Knowing that Jesus is watching over you.
Amen

Hannah speaks:
I love you, Mommy…
