Throwback Thursday to Monet {Virtual Fridge}

This Week

It's been school holidays around here so no new art has been attempted. Today is a little bit of a throw back to two years ago when we spent a wonderful month studying Monet. It was one of my all time favourite unit studies I did with Nathaniel. We read amazing books, did fun art projects, watched inspiring docudrama's and more.  You can find links to these here: Artist Study {Claude Monet} Nathaniel did the above painting with a little assistance.  We used a great 9 minute YouTube tutorial: Paint Like Monet: A Beginner's Guide to accomplish this painting.

• They are open Monday to Friday 
• Entry is via gold coin donation.
• Location: 637 Flinders Street, Docklands,World Trade Center
• You are allowed to take photographs inside this museum as long as it's without a flash.
•  The Museum is located on the Mezzanine Level of the World Trade Center.

Healsville Sanctuary

•  Melbourne has three sister zoo's.  Healsville Sanctuary specializes in Australian animals.
• There are eleven zoo highlights to enjoy.  I recommend you set aside a full day to enjoy this zoo.  
• Children can enjoy this zoo for free on weekends and during school holidays.  Admission fees do apply for adults

• Entry is FREE to the shrine

After an informative fire safety morning at Eastern Hill Fire Station take a turn next door to explore the Fire Services Museum.

• I loved reading how this Doctor persevered with his incubators for babies.  Without his work my siblings would have died.  She lived in an incubator for two months!  Babies On Display: When A Hospital Couldn't Save Them, A Sideshow Did.
