Last year we discovered the Gingerbread Village by Epicure. This is an annual display at the Melbourne Town Hall. Entry is by gold coin donation, all funds raised are donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation Australia. This year they had some more sights and sounds of Melbourne. This year the Royal Melbourne Zoo featured.

This is definitely a tradition worth adding to your annual outings in Melbourne. If you have never seen the village before be sure to note it in your diary and take a look next year. The detail is amazing. It must take the chef's hours and hours of hard work to bring the Gingerbread City to life.

Wow-that is amazing, One of my children has been given a pre-cut gingerbread train to decorate and I feel apprehensive enough about that. This is just a different order of magnitude!
ReplyDeleteI agree they were amazing to see. I would love to know what they do with all that Gingerbread at the end of the display.
DeleteThe train will be heaps of fun to do :) Does it come with prepackaged icing ? Or do you need to make some yourself ?
That's a really neat trip for Christmas time! We tried our hand this year at Gingerbread houses - just using pre-made kits and decorating them. It was fun.
ReplyDeleteFabulous! What a neat place. I love gingerbread houses and villages.
ReplyDeleteOur local science museum hosts a gingerbread display every Christmas and it's amazing some of the things people come up with. I always wondered what they did with the gingerbread creations afterward too!
