I love the encouragement I receive as a home school mom when reading about the adventures of other like minded Mom's.  Today I would like you to meet some new blog friends who are on the crew with me this year

Building Character with Children

As a homeschool mom it's not the academics that cause me the greatest challenge it's the issues of the heart and character that seem to be the ultimate issue at hand.  I have been encouraged and inspired with these FREE seven minute video's by Shirley Solis.

Building Character with Children is a brand new video-based program with homeschool mom, author, and speaker Shirley Solis.

I'm a mum with very limited free time so I am really happy to find a short, 7-minute video where Shirley shares her experience as a mom of 6 children, with tips and tricks to build strong, desirable character traits in your children!

I have been struggling to get my day going well and will definitely be using the ideas from video one.  Starting this Monday I will be applying the technique with Sir N.  I love her encouraging words and simple approach.  I have used this in the past but never knew how to take Sir N to total ownership and independance in this area.  This is going to change our day for the better and make it so much better for him and I.

HSMJ A new Year A Fresh Begining

In my life this week…

We returned home from a much needed rest.  We had a wonderful week of discovering Goolwa in South Australia.
I'm really excited I am starting an online photography course this week.  I can't wait to learn how to use my DSLR better.  Happy dance here.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

• We returned home from South Australia on Monday
• Paul and Sir N spent the day fishing and 'camping' in Anglesea on Wednesday.  I had a quiet day at home by myself.  Mothers do need these days to recharge.  Thank you my friend.
• A dinner date with another homeschool family
  

My favourite thing this week was…

• I enjoyed meeting Erin's new daughter this week and seeing their family Daybook.
• I suffer  have a healthy dose of bibliomania {passionate enthusiasm for collecting and possessing books.} and love anything and everything to do with books and so was intrigued to learn about this Secret Fore-Edge Paintings Revealed in Early 19th Century Books at the University of Iowa

• Saving to go for a ride on the Melbourne Star.  I've never been on an observation wheel before so am looking forward to this experience later this year.

Really mind changing stuff.  Great insight into the difference in process between men and woman in relation to our brains and how they are structured to work.
• Amazing footage of a dog playing with a dolphin off the coast of Ireland  
• 101 Household Tips for Every Room in your Home  
• Teen tiny house builder Austin Hay finishes dorm on wheels Austin started building this house when he was 16 in 2011.   130 square feet and it's now complete. Really interesting YouTube clip. It has a full bathroom (composting toilet and shower) as well as a kitchen, study and bedroom. It cost him $12000 to build and that's why it took him so long.

• I'm trying desperately to get back into THM cooking I enjoyed my holidays but am ready to be back on board and sugar detox this week.
