Celebrate with us! We had our Australian Citizenship conferred on us ...

Australian Citizenship Ceremony πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ¦˜πŸ¨ This has been one very long journey.  Hats off to anyone who has ever immigrated.  Upon pondering the road of life I realised that this is Paul and my fourth country of citizenship!

  • For me its: πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ South Africa,  πŸ‡³πŸ‡¦ Namibia, πŸ‡³πŸ‡Ώ New Zealand and πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί Australia.
  • Paul it's been πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡Ό Zimbabwe, πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ South Africa,  πŸ‡³πŸ‡Ώ New Zealand and πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί Australia.
  • Nathaniel it's not as long a journey, πŸ‡³πŸ‡Ώ New Zealand and πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί Australia.

For Paul and I we have given up our African heritages to build new lives here, and without the love and support of our friends and family I do not think we would have made it.  It's been a road full off tears, frustrations, love, support, encouragement and you.  So to you we say thank you!

 We're Aussies now g'day g'day.. πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί
I guess that means we're here to stay
..and should you have some wise advice, to share it would be very nice.. πŸ—£πŸ™‰
We've come, well, from the other side. Much further than the great divide!
A land where lions and leopards roam (that used to be our other home).. πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡ΌπŸ¦πŸΎπŸ†πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦
We stopped a while across the ditch πŸ‡³πŸ‡Ώ ..had one more child then made the switch..
"West Island" they said but what a guise they didn't reckon for its size!
..emus, roos🦘 and platypus seem to make a lot less fuss..
We'd love it if you'd all prepare to help us settle in right here.. 🏑
It's been a long and weary road and now it's time to shed that load..
We'll put down roots, tie up loose ends
and thank you all for being our friends.. πŸŽ‰πŸ’œπŸ’šπŸ₯³πŸ»πŸŽŠπŸ₯‚✝️

Grandparents Day

Well I did know about Mother's Day and Father's Day but Grandparents Day is a new one to me! Did you know that Grandparents day is celebrated on Sunday 25 October 2020 in Australia?

It is traditionally held on the last Sunday in October to celebrate the role of grandparents and older people in the our society.  It's to honour all the things they have done and the things they keep doing.

It is celebrated on the first Sunday in October in the United Kingdom, in September in the United States of America and in October in Italy. Currently twenty countries in the world celebrate the role of the elderly.

Gray hair is a crown of splendor, it is attained in the way of righteousness - Proverbs 16:31

Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged; parents are the pride of their children Proverbs 17:6

Ideas to celebrate

  • Invite them over and cook a special meal.
  • Enjoy a special tea party with them.
  • Create a personalized photo gift for them.
  • Meet at a park and enjoy an afternoon tea with them.
  • Create a handmade card.
  • Share happy stories with your children of growing up with your parents.
  • Ask Grandparents to share happy memories of parening their children.
  • Spending unhurried time together is the best gift.
